About Fehily Timoney Gifford

Fehily Timoney Gifford Ltd. (FTG) is a company owned equally between Fehily Timoney & Company (FTG) based in Cork and Dublin and Gifford based in the UK. The company was formalised in 1999, creating a long-term strategic alliance between Fehily Timoney & Company (IRL) and Gifford & Partners (UK) designed to service the ever expanding Irish infrastructure market.

FTG is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering practice, centred on the core disciplines of civil, structural and environmental engineering. The company brings together a broad range of skills and international expertise along with in-depth local knowledge provided by its Irish partners.

FTG provides independent professional advice, planning, design, supervision and project management services to Clients undertaking major capital, maintenance or improvement works. Advanced management systems are employed to meet quality assurance standards, when undertaking this work.

FTG has successfully established itself as designers in the roads sector. In recent years, FTG have completed detailed design on six major highway projects in Ireland. These include the N25 Youghal Bypass, M7 Heath Mayfield Motorway, N8 Cashel Bypass, N15 Bundoran Ballyshannon Bypass, N8 Rathcormac- Fermoy Bypass and N11 Gorey to Arklow Link. FTG are currently carrying out the detailed design for both the N9/N10 Phase 3 Kilcullen to Carlow and the N9/N10 Phase 4 Knocktopher to Powerstown.

Our aim is to bring a broad approach to investigation, study, planning and design and we attach great importance to the achievement of an elegant and appropriate solution to the Client’s requirement which is provided within the time scheduled and to cost.

Eamon Timoney is a co-founder of Fehily Timoney & Company and the current Managing Director. Eamon, who has over 30 years’ experience as a Consulting Engineer, holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from UCD (1976). He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of Engineers Ireland, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, and a Registered Consulting Engineer with the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland.

Eamon assumed the role of Managing Director in 1998 and continues to be actively involved in some of the key strategic projects undertaken by the company. His key areas of experience include solid waste management and regulatory compliance, road and bridgeworks, local authority infrastructure and industrial projects in the pharma-chem industry. He advises local authorities and the private sector in strategic planning areas and also acts as an expert witness.

Oliver Tierney joined Fehily Timoney & Company in 2004 and was appointed as a Director in 2006. Oliver holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering obtained from UCG (1986) and has over 22 years’ experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer. A Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, he also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Highway and Geotechnical Engineering.

Oliver has worked with consulting engineers, contractors and local authorities in both the UK and Ireland. His areas of expertise include planning, design and construction of major national road projects, structural design of multistorey commercial buildings, construction of trunk water mains and ancillary works, and the site management of commercial and residential developments. He also has experience of acting as an expert witness and in contract dispute resolution.

At present Oliver is the Director with responsibility for the Transportation Department of Fehily Timoney & Company.
